Primary Care Behavioral Health

Primary Care Behavioral Health (PCBH) is a service provided in the medical clinics by Behavioral Health Consultants (BHCs), skilled mental health clinicians who work side by side with medical providers to address the behavioral health needs of the primary care patients at the clinics.

In contrast with specialty mental health services, PCBH integrated services are brief, problem-focused and are often available to primary care patients the same day as their medical appointment.

BHCs provide consultation to the primary care providers and can help identify patients who may need or benefit from specialty mental health or chemical dependency services, and works with patients and families to get them the most appropriate services.
