Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic Nutrition Services offers Primary Care Nutrition Services working with our patients in our clinics. In addition, in many of our locations, YVFWC Nutrition Services offers the health and nutrition support and benefits of WIC, the health and Nutrition Program for Women, Infants & Children in Washington & Oregon.
Primary Care Nutrition Services
Primary Care Nutrition Services is a service provided in our medical clinics by Registered Dietitian Nutritionists, skilled nutrition providers who work side by side with medical providers to address the nutritional needs of primary care patients.
Primary Care Nutrition Services are provided by Registered Dietitian Nutritionists (RDNs) at all primary care sites to patients with nutrition-related conditions (diabetes, cardiovascular disease, weight management, digestive issues, food allergies, etc.), as well as for preventative education (Well Child Checks, prenatal counseling, healthy families) and for general nutrition questions and concerns.
Women, Infants and Children
WIC is a health and Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children age 5 and under. WIC helps families by providing checks for buying healthy supplemental foods from WIC-authorized stores. It also is a source for nutrition education, breastfeeding support and education and for help finding healthcare and other community services.
WIC Provided Services
Nutritious Foods: WIC foods are good sources of important nutrients. No single food gives you all the nutrients you need to stay healthy, so eat many different foods every day.
Nutrition Education: At each clinic visit, you will have an opportunity to learn about nutrition.
Breastfeeding Promotion and Support: WIC encourages all women to breastfeed. It is the best food for babies. If a baby is not breastfed, some formula may be provided by WIC. Help with breastfeeding is available for moms who need it. WIC can also furnish a breast pump if needed.
WIC is an equal opportunity program and employer.
