Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic Celebrates Children’s Dental Health Month
Starting your child off with a good dental care routine can help protect their teeth for many years. February is Children’s Dental Health Month and dentists at Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic agree: starting “mouth healthy” early is best.
Chief Dental Officer Dr. Stephen Davis says, “We recommend children make their first visit to the dentist in the first year of their lives.”
A baby’s 20 primary teeth are already present in their jaws at birth. Baby teeth that begin coming through the gums around six months help set the stage for future smiles by keeping space in the jaw for adult teeth.
“Therefore, it’s important that children maintain their dental health and develop good oral hygiene habits early in life,” Dr. Davis added.
