Thanks to the generosity of a Walla Walla winery, the Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic's Family Medical Center in Walla Walla is the recipient of a $1,100 donation to assist families in need.

Reininger Winery contributed $5 from each bottle of its “Mr. Owl’s Red” sold during May and June. The funds will go to the clinic’s FamilyCare Fund, which aids families who are struggling to pay travel expenses when their children need specialty care in Spokane or Seattle.

Reininger’s assistant winemaker and cellar master, Raul Morfin, was the one who proposed Family Medical as a worthy recipient of the fundraising effort. Mr. Owl’s Red is named in honor of Raul, who has been with the winery for 15 years. When the owner’s children were young, they misunderstood the pronunciation of Raul’s name and referred to him as “Mr. Owl.”
